Seen and Heard: Final Undergraduate Project
Seen and Heard is a photographic monograph focusing on the intersection of modern music and fashion across multiple genres and its ability to celebrate both individuality and togetherness.
This, my final major university project, was an opportunity to showcase the skills I acquired throughout my degree course and draw on elements in other units merging them to this significant piece of work.
Instead of working with professional models, Seen and Heard needed to portray the real people shaping both the music and its accompanying fashion. This made the project an opportunity to highlight young artists and bands, showcasing their style. By celebrating individuality—both in personal expression and in the collective connections formed through music—the project reinforces themes of identity, which have been central to many of my projects throughout my time at UCA.
Additionally the through the use of Spotify codes Seen and Heard is able to promote the either the artist’s/band’s own music or their favourite music.
The project had a number of significant influences both for visual and implied meanings, amongst them were the works of Gabriel Moses, Ewen Spencer and Steph Wilson.
